An Applied Research and Engineering Team is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to work on real-world healthcare and life sciences projects. The role focuses on developing, validating, and deploying machine learning models using complex, regulated data sets, with an emphasis on moving research into production environments.This position sits within a multidisciplinary team delivering externally funded R&D and early-stage product work, collaborating with engineers, researchers, and domain specialists.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, train, and evaluate machine learning models for classification and prediction tasks using healthcare dataWork with large-scale, structured and semi-structured datasets (e.g. EHR-style or clinical datasets)Develop end-to-end ML pipelines from data ingestion through to deploymentDeploy and maintain models in production environmentsApply appropriate model validation, monitoring, and performance evaluation techniquesEnsure work aligns with data protection and regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR)Contribute to technical documentation and project reportingCollaborate closely with non-ML stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutionsRequired Skills & ExperienceA PhD with 2 years of experience or a MSc with 5 years of experienceStrong background in machine learning with hands-on, applied experienceCommercial experience working with healthcare, medical, or life sciences dataStrong Python skills and experience with common ML libraries and frameworksExperience deploying ML models into production environmentsFamiliarity with working in regulated or compliance-driven settingsExperience handling noisy, incomplete, or real-world datasetsAbility to communicate technical work clearly and conciselyDesirable ExperienceExperience with distributed data processing or cloud-based ML workflowsExposure to deep learning techniquesExperience with time-series or longitudinal dataKnowledge of model interpretability or explainability techniquesBackground in applied research or R&D environmentsIf you have the relevant experience, and are interested, then apply now.
