Data Engineer Amsterdam | Hybrid | Full-timeAbout the CompanyWe are recruiting on behalf of a leading international organisation that is setting the standard for data-driven transformation. Within a high-impact internal data team, you will help build a new Reporting & Analytics platform based on Databricks and Azure, a cornerstone initiative driving the company’s global data strategy. Here, innovation meets purpose: you’ll work on meaningful projects that empower thousands of users to make better decisions every day.About the RoleAs a Data Engineer, you will take ownership of building and optimising scalable, metadata-driven data pipelines and workflows within Databricks. This is a hands-on engineering role at the heart of a new, cloud-native platform, designed for performance, scalability, and long-term growth. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of data engineers, architects, BI analysts, and a Scrum Master to ensure that data infrastructure and pipelines are future-proof, secure and AI-ready.ResponsibilitiesBuild and Design Pipelines: Develop scalable, metadata-driven workflows within Databricks.CI/CD Automation: Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Git.Data Architecture: Implement and optimise Medallion Architecture using Delta Live Tables (DLT) and Unity Catalog.Azure Integration: Manage Azure components such as Key Vault, ADLS Gen2, and Active Directory.Data Ingestion: Ingest data from multiple sources, including APIs and cloud systems.Quality & Testing: Implement unit testing, performance monitoring, and cost optimisation.Collaboration: Work closely with BI teams to integrate data into Power BI and Delta Sharing.Documentation & Standards: Contribute to internal documentation and share best practices.Qualifications🎓 Education:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.Required Skills5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, with proven hands-on expertise in Databricks and Azure.Proficient in Python and PySpark.Strong understanding of Delta Live Tables, Medallion Architecture, and Unity Catalog.Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and metadata-based programming.Familiarity with Agile/Scrum environments.Certifications such as DP-203 or Databricks Data Engineer Associate/Professional are a major advantage.Preferred SkillsProficiency in SQL.Pay Range & BenefitsCompetitive salary with an excellent pension plan32 vacation days per yearFlexible hybrid working environment with home office and expense allowancePersonal well-being budget to support physical and mental healthExtensive professional training and certification supportSustainable mobility options, including electric lease car or mobility allowanceA collaborative, high-performance culture where your work is recognised and your growth is supportedEqual Opportunity StatementThis is your opportunity to help build the foundation of a modern, enterprise-wide analytics ecosystem.
