Principal Pre-Sales Engineer - AI & Data London - Hybrid (3 days onsite) Up to £85,000 + car allowance + 10% bonus Turn Complex AI Into Real Customer WinsWe are working with a fast-scaling AI and data business, part of a larger global group, that is expanding its UK footprint after its strongest year to date.The company already has live deployments across UK utilities and other data-rich enterprise environments. With a strong pipeline in place and new AI and agentic solutions coming to market, they are now hiring a Principal Pre-Sales Engineer to help convert technical capability into commercial success.This is a hands-on, customer-facing role with high visibility across Sales, Product, and Technical leadership. The RoleThis position sits directly between product and revenue.You will partner closely with Sales to engage enterprise customers, shape technical conversations, and clearly demonstrate the value of complex AI and data solutions.This is not quota-carrying sales. Your impact comes from increasing deal confidence, shortening sales cycles, and helping customers understand what is genuinely possible with their data.Key areas of ownership include:Designing and delivering sharp, customer-specific demosLeading focused 1 to 2 week proof of conceptsAssessing client data maturity and integration readinessTranslating AI capability into clear operational and commercial outcomesActing as the technical-commercial bridge between customer and productFeeding real market insight back into product and messagingYou will regularly engage senior operational and technical stakeholders across UK utilities and enterprise clients. What Success Looks LikeWithin your first 6 months, you will be:Increasing lead-to-prospect and prospect-to-customer conversionImproving win confidence across complex AI opportunitiesConfidently leading technical value discussions with senior stakeholdersDesigning POCs that prove value quickly without becoming delivery projectsStrengthening the feedback loop between market, sales, and product Your BackgroundYou are likely coming from one of the following:Pre-Sales or Solutions EngineeringTechnical ConsultingSenior Data Scientist or AI Engineer with strong client exposureStrong candidates typically bring:Solid Python and SQL fundamentalsExperience working with modern data platforms (for example Databricks, data lakes, or ML environments)Confidence building lightweight demo environmentsAbility to explain AI and analytics in clear business languageStrong commercial awareness and curiosityComfort operating in fast-moving, customer-facing environmentsUtilities experience is helpful but not essential.
