Together we’re building a world-class platform to amplify our teams’ most powerful ideas.As part of our engineering team, you’ll shape the platforms and tools that drive high-impact research - designing systems that scale, accelerate discovery and support innovation across the firm.The roleAs a Security Data and Platform Engineer (Elastic Security), you’ll take on a hybrid security engineering role, combining strong general security engineering foundations with deep subject-matter expertise in security data pipelines and Elastic Security.Reporting to the Security Engineering Manager, you will act as the Security Data SME for the organisation, owning the onboarding, tuning, stabilisation and evolution of security telemetry across cloud, hybrid and corporate environments.In addition to this specialist focus, you will make vital contributions as a well-rounded Security Engineer, applying software engineering, automation and platform thinking to solve a broad range of security problems.You will work closely with SOC and CSIRT, detection engineering, platform engineering and cloud teams to ensure that security data is reliable, high-quality, cost-effective and fit for purpose across monitoring, investigation, threat hunting and compliance use cases.Key responsibilities of the role include:Acting as the technical authority and SME for security data within the Elastic Security ecosystemDesigning, implementing and maintaining robust, scalable security data ingestion (in particular Logstash) pipelines into Elastic SIEM, drawing on established data engineering and platform practicesOwning the onboarding, tuning, normalisation and stabilisation of security data feeds across cloud, endpoint, network and SaaS sourcesDefining and continuously improving data quality standards, ensuring telemetry is reliable and usable for detection, investigation and huntingContributing to the operation, monitoring and evolution of the Elastic Security platform, supporting availability, performance, upgrades and integrationsApplying software engineering and scripting skills, for example in Python or Bash, to automate ingestion, validation, monitoring and operational workflowsSupporting configuration-as-code and infrastructure-as-code approaches to ensure consistency and repeatability across security toolingDriving the ongoing development of a coherent security data strategy aligned to business and regulatory needs.Who are we looking for?The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:Strong experience in data engineering with Elastic Stack, including Ingest pipelines, Logstash, Beats, Kafka or similarExpertise in data modelling, indexing and optimisation within ElasticProven ability to design scalable log collection and processing architecturesKnowledge of data governance, compliance and retention strategiesFamiliarity with security data sources, such as cloud logs, endpoint logs and network telemetryExperience with cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS or GCP, and hybrid environmentsTrack record of mentoring or developing junior engineersBehavioural:Strategic Thinking: Able to develop and execute a long-term data strategy.Precision: Ensures data quality, consistency and reliability at all timesCommunication: Capable of conveying complex data engineering concepts to security and non-security stakeholdersLeadership: Supports and mentors junior colleagues to develop skills and independenceCollaboration: Works across teams to ensure alignment of data practices with wider security and business goalsWhy should you apply?Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonusLunch provided (via Just Eat for Business) and dedicated barista bar30 days’ annual leave9% company pension contributionsInformal dress code and excellent work/life balanceComprehensive healthcare and life assuranceCycle-to-work schemeMonthly company eventsLocation: London
