Senior Data Analyst (Analytics & Automation)Location: Hybrid – 4 days per month in office (Surrey) (full-time)£60,000 - £70,000 p/a + Bonus + Benefits A specialist UK insurer is hiring a Senior Data Analyst to strengthen analytics, reporting, and process automation across a commercial team. This is a hands-on role for someone who can turn complex datasets into clear insight, build trusted dashboards, and automate recurring workflows.Insurance experience is very useful but not essential - strong technical delivery and stakeholder communication matter most. Key responsibilitiesBuild and improve performance reporting and dashboards (Power BI/Tableau and/or open-source tools).Query a data warehouse using SQL to create reliable, decision-ready MI and insight.Automate recurring analysis and reporting using R and/or Python (reduce manual effort, improve reproducibility and auditability).Identify trends and issues at customer/segment level and communicate clear, evidence-based recommendations.Strengthen data quality controls (reconciliations, checks, monitoring for breaks) and maintain clear documentation.Essential skillsStrong SQL (comfortable with complex queries; clear, maintainable code).Strong R and/or Python for data analysis and automation.Experience building dashboards in Power BI or Tableau.Confident communicator able to translate data into actions for non-technical stakeholders.Desirable (not essential)Databricks or modern cloud data environments.Plotly, Shiny/FlexDashboard, Leaflet; geospatial analytics.Any exposure to insurance analytics/pricing/portfolio monitoring (although that can be trained).Interested?
