Its technology transforms complex, multi-source real-world data into structured, decision-grade datasets that support research, commercial strategy, and product innovation across the healthcare ecosystem.As the business scales its platform and expands its data capabilities, it is looking for a senior, hands-on data engineer to take ownership of core pipelines, modelling standards, and data reliability within a modern cloud-based environment.Berlin-based role.The RoleAs a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain the backbone of a modern healthcare data platform enabling analytics, product features, AI applications, and external reporting.You will:Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across multiple structured and unstructured data sourcesTransform raw patient and operational data into reliable, analytics-ready datasetsDevelop and maintain robust data models (warehouse/lakehouse structures, schema design, semantic layers)Work with batch and event-driven/streaming data pipelinesImplement data validation, monitoring, and observability processes to ensure reliability and qualitySupport extraction of structured signals from unstructured data (e.g., free text or conversational inputs)Collaborate closely with product, AI, and analytics teams to translate business needs into pragmatic data solutionsEnsure strong privacy, security, and compliance standards in a sensitive healthcare contextImprove performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency of the cloud data platformContribute to CI/CD practices, containerized workflows, and engineering best practicesDocument architecture, pipelines, and data models to maintain high technical standardsThis is a highly impactful role with architectural influence in a mission-driven environment.The CandidateYou are a hands-on data engineer who enjoys building reliable systems in environments where data quality, correctness, and scalability truly matter.You bring:3–6+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or backend-leaning data rolesStrong Python and SQL skills (including joins, window functions, and performance optimization)Solid experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines (batch and/or streaming)Experience with orchestration or transformation tooling (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Dagster, Prefect, or similar)Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and analytical warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or similar)Familiarity with AWS (preferred), GCP, or Azure environmentsExperience with Docker or containerized workloadsPractical understanding of data quality frameworks, monitoring, and observabilityExperience handling complex or unstructured datasets (e.g., text data) is highly valuedExposure to healthcare, life sciences, real-world evidence, or regulated environments is a strong plusKnowledge of knowledge graphs or graph databases is a plusStrong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionallyComfort operating in a fast-paced startup or scale-up environmentWhy This RoleMission-driven product improving healthcare decision-making and patient outcomesOpportunity to build the core data backbone of a real-world evidence platformHigh ownership and architectural influenceExposure to cutting-edge AI and patient-generated data applicationsFast-growing, well-funded health tech environmentBerlin-based team with collaborative culture
