Senior Data EngineerLondon - Hybrid, (2 to 3 days a week in the office)Up to £90,000 + BenefitsThis is an opportunity to join a high‑growth financial services organisation that is investing heavily in data, cloud engineering, and modern analytics. You will play a key role in shaping their data ecosystem, driving best practices, and delivering scalable solutions that directly support business-critical decision making.The Company They are a fast‑scaling UK bank operating across commercial banking, fintech services, and SME lending. Their data function is maturing rapidly, with strong executive support and an ambitious roadmap. They are building modern cloud‑based data capabilities to improve reliability, governance, and analytical insight across the organisation. With teams based across multiple UK hubs, you will join a collaborative environment where data is viewed as a core strategic asset.The Role You will join the AI and Data team, supporting the evolution of their cloud data platform and ensuring data is accurate, governed, and analytics‑ready. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will: • Own end‑to‑end delivery of scalable AWS‑based data pipelines. • Design and evolve data architecture, modelling, and warehousing solutions. • Lead improvements across ETL and ELT workflows, ensuring stability and performance. • Enhance governance capabilities including lineage, quality, and observability. • Support a junior Data Engineer through mentorship, coaching, and code review. • Contribute to tooling improvements, best practices, and cloud engineering standards. • Support potential future migration projects and platform optimisation work.Your Skills and Experience You will be a strong fit if you can demonstrate: • Deep commercial experience building and maintaining AWS‑based data pipelines. • Strong capability in Python, SQL, and Airflow for orchestration and automation. • Proven experience designing data models and contributing to architectural decisions. • Hands‑on experience with Redshift, data marts, and cloud‑native engineering patterns. • Familiarity with Terraform, GitHub, and modern CI/CD approaches. • Experience working in environments where governance, quality and reliability are essential. • Confidence leading technical discussions and mentoring other engineers. • Experience in a regulated or scale‑up environment is beneficial but not essential.What They Offer • Salary: £90,000 (London) • Hybrid working, 2 to 3 days onsite. • Comprehensive benefits package including private healthcare, pension, enhanced leave, and wellbeing support. • Clear progression opportunities within an expanding data and engineering team. • The chance to shape modern data capabilities in a growing UK banking organisation. • Please note: sponsorship is not available for this position.
