Senior Data Scientist (Generative AI)📍 London (Hybrid)About the RoleThis role sits within a central Group AI function, focused on using Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to deliver real, measurable business value at scale. You’ll work at the intersection of data science, engineering, and product, designing and deploying next-generation AI solutions that power customer-facing and internal use cases.You will translate complex business challenges into structured data science problems, design robust GenAI systems, and help shape how Generative AI is applied responsibly and commercially across a large organisation.What You’ll DoTranslate complex business challenges into structured data science problems, defining hypotheses, solution approaches, and measurable success metricsDesign and develop Generative AI solutions including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), conversational agents, and synthetic content generationDesign and run experiments to test and validate AI/ML approaches, including LLM evaluation frameworks and statistical significance testingLeverage large-scale, rich data assets to build scalable AI solutions and establish robust evaluation benchmarksCollaborate with engineering, product, and commercial teams to take AI solutions from ideation through production deploymentPartner with stakeholders to ensure AI solutions are robust, compliant, ethical, and performantDrive experimentation, innovation, and continuous learning to strengthen internal data science and GenAI capabilitiesWhat You’ll BringAdvanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Data Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field — or equivalent industry experienceHands-on experience developing Generative AI and LLM-based solutions in production or enterprise environmentsExperience designing evaluation frameworks for generative systems (e.g. LLM-as-a-judge, task-specific metrics, benchmarking approaches)Strong applied machine learning expertise using Python and modern ML frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn, PyTorch, XGBoost)Experience with vector databases, retrieval methods, and data querying languagesA commercial mindset with the ability to connect data science work to real business outcomesExcellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear business termsHybrid Working & LocationThis role follows a hybrid working model, combining time spent working from home with time in modern office environments.
